Every minute of every day someone is trafficked into sexual exploitation or slavery*. It doesn't have to be this way. With your support, we can all be a part of bringing about an end to the trafficking of human beings.
Have you ever been suspicious of trafficking activity? Would you know what to do if you saw something that looked like trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation? Or do you perhaps know someone who hasn't even heard of trafficking? If so then the On The Move Campaign was created with you and them in mind. It will launch this autumn 2011 when stickers containing important information about trafficking will be placed in taxi cabs around the city.
We hope that by raising awareness of trafficking in such public places, people will become more informed, will know what to do if they see anything suspicious, and will be able to take further action if they so choose.
We have now distributed stickers to 2000 taxi cabs across 30 firms in Leeds, including the Leeds City Council cabs who were kind enough to fully support the campaign.
Keep an eye out for one in a cab near you and if you don't see it - ask the cabbie to pick one up from his or her office!
